ABOUT CERVUS DOG TRAINING
Background
I comes from a background of Anthropology, Psychology and Sociology and have worked with dogs professionally for 2 and a half years, but I was raised around dogs my whole life. My professional training journey started with training own service dog (Fawn! see below) and moving on to training pets and service dogs alike. I work to offer an interdisciplinary approach, and look directly at how we as people live and work dogs, who have co-evolved alongside us over thousands of years. I find it important to acknowledge the roots of our dogs, their genes, and ancestry when approaching training and I value individuality in training approaches. I believe that every dog should be treated as an individual and that the most harmful thing we can do for dogs is treat training as one size fits all. Genes carry an important role in the needs and wants of our dogs, but both nature and nurture are crucial to gain a holistic approach when working with animals. I want to give your dogs the best chance to succeed, learn, and grow and tapping into their evolution is a great way, in my experience, to foster their and your success.

I offer support to owners through owner coaching sessions, schedule building, tool and method recommendations through appointments on zoom (available upon request).
I own two dogs. Fawn, a cattle dog mix and her current service dog and Brynn, a hound mix and adventure dog. These dogs have provided me a lot of insight into the minds and lives of rescue dogs and how they differ from purebreds and offered experience in training dog reactivity, guarding behaviors, anxiety, separation anxiety, and the functioning of a multi-dog household. You can see these two as my demo dogs on my social media accounts!
I have special interest in working line breeds in non-working homes as well as training working dogs and takes a keen interest training puppy basics and obedience.
